by Jimena Orozco Gonzalez

The Ontario Reign recently hosted the Jr. Reign Welcome Night, bringing together our youth hockey players and the professional players of the Ontario Reign. The night was filled with excitement, camaraderie, and unforgettable experiences for players, families, and coaches alike. Beyond the thrilling on-ice action, the event also had a philanthropic element, with Chuck-A-Puck raising over $1,000 for the Quest Foundation.

In a thrilling match against the Abbotsford Canucks, the Ontario Reign emerged victorious with a 5-3 win. The arena buzzed with energy as fans cheered for their favorite team, creating an electric atmosphere that set the stage for an incredible afternoon.

The excitement began even before the puck dropped, as the 8U and 10U teams had the unique opportunity to high-five the Ontario Reign players during the Tunnel Team Experience. It was a great opportunity for the young Jr Reign players to connect with the professional players and Kingston, which set the tone for an inspiring afternoon.

The pregame ceremony was a sight to behold, with the 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U teams playing a crucial role as Reign Flag Bearers. Dressed in their jerseys, the young athletes proudly held the American Flag during the National Anthem, symbolizing unity and sportsmanship. The ceremony showcased the strong bond between the Jr. Reign teams and the professional players, emphasizing the shared love for the game.

Fans also had the chance to participate in Chuck-A-Puck and helped raise funds for the Quest Foundation. The enthusiastic crowd eagerly tossed pucks onto the ice after the game ended, not only adding to the afternoon's excitement but also contributing to a worthy cause. The generosity of the Jr. Reign and Ontario Reign community resulted in an impressive fundraising total, with over $1,000 collected for the Quest Foundation. These funds will help support children with a passion and a dream for the sport of ice hockey.

Post-game, the excitement continued as players, family members, and coaches were granted a special privilege – the opportunity to skate around on the ice at Toyota Arena. The ice that witnessed fierce competition moments before became a playground for the Jr. Reign community. Laughter, cheers, and the sound of skates gliding on the ice echoed through the arena, creating lasting memories for everyone involved.
